Knitbombing in Brookfields
I need a challenge so was looking for some charity knitting fundraisers. The Chilldrens Society
www.childrenssociety.org.uk/what_you_can_do/fundraising_appeals/the_big_stitch/7699.html
got me knitting but I struggled with the make one and the heart looked a bit sorry for itself, so had a go at wristbands and they were a bit small so decorated with a homemade button and it became a mini wine bottle warmer??? :} Kept me busy, lol

Bat Walk
Went on a bat walk this evening here is a rescued Long eared Bat which is now used for educational purposes. Pan is unable to be realeased back into the wild due to a hole in his wing membrane. You get a sense of the scale of the bat as Anthony Mould holds him in the palm of his hand. After the talk we took out bat detectors and were able to detect Noctule and Pipistrelle bats.
Broughton House Gallery
I stumbled across this gem of a gallery yesterday. Really quaint and unusual they hold an archive of work by the late Gwen Raverat, granddaughter of Charles Darwin. Nerys Johnson is exhibiting at he moment. My favourite paintings are the ones with black backgrounds like the one above. http://www.broughtonhousegallery.com/

Edward Burtynsky Intelligent Photography
I say intelligent because so often we look only to the beautiful side of life and Edward Burtynskys work is recording the ugly industrialisation of our planet.

Stroll around Cambridge
Cambridge is a city full of character, and life, you never know who you might meet while you out and about. Mr Simms's sweetshop is definitely worth a visit but be warned you will be spoilt for choice. Have a reminisce about some of your favourite childhood sweets your bound to find them there! The cam riverside is beautiful just perfect for lazy day strolls.

End of an Era !
Can't believe four years of study is over!!! well not quite there is an MA looming :} Monday was a strange day hand in the final major project then move out of my lovely home and head down to Cambridge. New beginnings :) Over the past couple of weeks I have barely had time to think of anything other than printing, fingers crossed XXX
So what have I done since landing here in Cambridge?....
Well Tuesday I went to the Fitzwilliam Museum to see the Making Waves exhibition by Maggi Hambling they are impressive paintings of waves and you really get a sense of the power of the sea with the scale of them.
Wednesday the Vue Cinema to see the new Ridley Scott, Robin Hood film. Gorgeous costume and a refreshingly different take on the history of Robin Hood, loved it!!
Thursday wander around the shops there are a couple I need to post on here that are just yummy for handmade gifts. Today's is Callyco for fine fabrics and accessories http://www.callyco.com/ some really delightful prints as well as buttons, ribbons and clothkits.
Tomorrow I think I might pop down to Kettlesyard. I'll post more when I've been down but it's one of my favourite galleries with work by Ben Nicholson and Picasso.
